It’s that time of year again when the great and the good (and those of us somewhere in between) meet up in a stunning World venue to chat about all things registry, registrar, DNS, TLD (g’s, cc’s and n’s), IANA, IPv’s 4 and 6, transition, legislation and direction, and all manner of other seemingly undecipherable acronyms.
ICANN boasts members from all corners of the globe and the meetings are a bit like a travelling show, convening three times a year and finding homes in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America. It’s ICANN 54 and this time around we are in the beautiful city of Dublin.
The agenda for the week is busy and diverse with well over 1,500 industry experts attending. There are extremely focused sessions aimed at the legal-eagles, workshops for the deep tech geniuses, open debates for the opinionated amongst us as well as more over-arching seminars to keep everyone up to date with the latest developments and innovations.
There really is something for everyone – if you are involved in running the backbone of the internet, if you are involved in the legislative process of privacy and security, if you represent an organization that has products and services consumed by the domain community or if you have a passion and interest in an open, well run, well managed and transparent Internet, ICANN will have a session for you.
Dyn has long been involved in this space and we are proud to be a silver sponsor for ICANN54, Dublin. We love to chat about all things t’internet and as a company we have many individuals whose experience reads a bit like a “who’s who” of the industry. Matt Larson, Andrew Sullivan, Joe Abley, Dave Knight—to name-check just a few!
By osmosis I have gleaned more than a passing knowledge of the space and I am continually amazed by the close relationships that exists amongst, seemingly, disparate or even competing, organisations. ICANN brings people together with a shared vision to “make things better” and this covers solutions, legislation, innovation, fixing the “Things” that need to be fixed and ensuring the next “Things” don’t break in the first place. We’ve spent a great deal of the past two years refining and shaping our registry and registrar product set and are proud to be working with some the biggest global players, powering a lot of the hidden “stuff” that needs to be always available, work quickly, work well, and work always!
ICANN 54 promises to be another fascinating and busy week and if you feel like kicking back during the event why not join us for a few drinks and a good dollop of cheesy nostalgia at our 80’s themed party? Of course, I was but a mere babe-in-arms back then but my parents told me all about it. (yeah right – I wish) So onwards to the Emerald Isle, don’t forget to register Dyn Totally 80s Party and see you there!
