www.aberdeen.com Constant Web Site Disruptions Demand a New Kind of Performance Management 3 Internet Performance Management — Definition Internet Performance Management (IPM) is a technology designed to provide visibility into performance problems on the Internet, along with the ability to take action and control Internet connectivity to avoid these issues. IPM solutions are constantly monitoring traffic across the Internet, and, when there is a problem on a route that a business uses for its web sites and services, IPM can quickly and proactively switch to a faster route, saving the business from slow or disruptive services and keeping visitors and revenue happy. problems and potential disruptions that can occur on the internet, and helps organizations avoid those issues to keep websites up and performing without disruption. In this report, we'll look at the severe costs of internet disruptions and how businesses use Internet Performance Management (see sidebar) to stop website problems, improve performance, and help websites deliver on their value. The High Costs, and High Frequency of Website Disruptions What's an acceptable amount of downtime or disruption for a website? If your businesses name is Amazon, Google, Facebook or you're a similar giant, no amount of disruption is acceptable and, when it does occur, it's pretty big news.
