Constant Web Site Disruptions Demand a New Kind of Performance Management
6
According to this data, 60% of organizations put the cost of a
minute of website downtime at over $1,000. This is a significant
amount of cash.
But what happens when we combine this number with four or
more disruptions a month, and a time to resolution that is often
over one hour? Amazingly, even on the lower end of this scale,
some organizations are losing over six figures in revenue a
month due to poor and unreliable website performance.
Following a New Path to Website Performance
Poor performance is clearly a serious problem. So what are
organizations doing to overcome this issue?
Quite a lot actually.
When we asked businesses what strategies and steps they took
to improve performance, we saw very high percentages doing
everything that is traditionally considered good practice in
performance management, as seen in Figure 4 below.
76% of businesses saw
no improvement in
website performance
over the last year, and
23% saw slower
performance.
