However, another point of interest in Figure 4 is second from the bottom – that 25% of organizations have invested in the emerging field of Internet Performance Management technologies in order to gain visibility into issues on the wide internet and come up with ways to avoid these issues completely. The big question for this 25% is: Does Internet Performance Management pay off in improving site performance, reducing disruptions, and increasing reliability? The Benefits of Following a New Type of Performance Management Few would argue with the value of having extensive visibility into problems that occur on the internet. In our many years of covering performance management, we've seen that it is often the one area into which an organization lacks visibility that will be the cause of problems. And having the ability to proactively avoid these internet problems is clearly an excellent way to keep them from impacting sites and their visitors. But just how is Internet Performance Management benefitting the organizations using it? That's exactly what Figure 5 below shows.
